Sophia Urove

Sophia is a recent John Jay graduate and storyteller. The two short stories you’ll hear today are excerpts from her senior thesis project: The Bridge— Two Countries, Two Cultures, One Daughter Between Them. Sophia spent the entirety of her senior year working alongside Professor Andrea Clark and interviewing her good friend, Victoria Karpowicz (pronounced Car-po-witz). The Bridge is a compilation of the life stories of one Polish-American immigrant family in New York City. Each vignette offers a window into the immigrant experience through the eyes of a first-gen daughter.
