Evelyn

Evelyn is a junior majoring in English with a minor in Digital Media and Journalism. After taking her first creative writing course here at John Jay as a sophomore, she decided to take creative nonfiction with Professor Madrazo, where she really dug deep as a writer and challenged herself to write about moments in her life that she would not normally share with the public. Born in Mexico, raised in Queens, New York, she loves going to rock and metal concerts with friends. Her favorite places to spend time in the city include Union Square, the East Village, and Washington Square Park. She also enjoys spending time with her mother and sisters on weekends and taking them out to museums or parks. Evelyn also enjoys changing her hair color every now and then. Her favorite hair color she’s done was blue, and she hopes to do it again soon. You can always catch her listening to some of her favorite bands like Motley Crue, Gun’s N’ Roses, The Smiths, or The Cure. Recently, Evelyn has found a new passion for playing the electric guitar. She also loves attending poetry nights in the city on her own or with a friend. ​
