Karen Diaz

Karen Díaz was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and moved to the United States at the age of fifteen. Now a Criminal Justice student at John Jay College, she has found in the university a safe space that has allowed her to grow both personally and academically. From an early age, living with dermatitis made her feel withdrawn and isolated, but writing became a powerful outlet to process those experiences. Her recent story, shared in this podcast, reflects not only her journey of resilience but also her passion for using creative nonfiction to inspire others facing similar struggles. Through her writing, she seeks to bridge personal narrative and broader social themes, showing that vulnerability can also be a source of strength.
